4/17/2023 0 Comments Kwajalein tidal poolsOn the ocean side when tide is out you can have some tidal pools that are 10-15 ft deep at low tide. The Adult Recreation Center is available to ages 19 and older. Entertainment Hang out at the recreation center. Visit local sea life while reefing, snorkeling in the beautiful tide pools, and diving in the ocean surrounding the island. Lots of pretty fish as well such as butterfly, angel, wrasses, etc. Take advantage of swimming opportunities at one of Kwajalein’s two saltwater swimming pools or beautiful beaches. I can’t believe it’s taken me 4 weeks to get out there, but now I’m all the more eager to revisit the tide pools and learn how to dive. On the ocean side of Kwajalein, along the outside of the U, rocky reef slopes out gently from the island a short distance before dropping off sometimes nearly vertically to the 6,000-foot sea bed. The reef here is sharp, but the pools are filled with crabs and reef fish. The water is quite warm, too, and obviously very clear. Jake and I explored some tide pools off the golf course on a Sunday morning. I went swimming in one of the smaller tide pools, and saw such amazing creatures. I remember from snorkeling out there that there is alot of picasso triggerfish, some pompano, tons of sharks (mostly blacktip, whitetip and reef). There were several out around the edges of the tide pools. Lots of coral in some places, but you can go 100 yds and run into large sandy areas with nothing but patches of staghorn coral. The lagoon side of the island is low current and almost no waves.you have shallow 2-5 ft water for a couple hundred yards and then a drop off to 200 feet. 13, 2014 Ask& nswer Feedback from the ongoing KRS survey regarding service experiences Adult Pool Hours: Community Services is proud to of-fer a newly renovated facility which has the capability to be open 24 hours a day, six days a week. I picked up a clearwater 8wt and have a battenkill reel i am going to take with two spools. ![]() I have discovered fly fishing in the last year or two though and want to try my hand at saltwater for the first time and wanted to see if anyone here had any experience fishing in the Marshall Islands. ![]() I lived there for a while, but only fished deep water while there for mahi, dogtooth, wahoo, etc. So i will be going back to Kwajalein for a while soon and am going to try my hand at saltwater fishing for the first time.
